When to come, what to expect.

The prime season: October to April

This is when the valley is at its best — clear skies, crisp nights around 8–20 °C, and the star-filled night skies that people travel for. With minimal light pollution and clear high-altitude air, the night sky here is unlike anywhere near a city. If stars are why you're coming, aim for these months.

The monsoon: June to September

The monsoon brings heavy rain and turns the hills a vivid green with misty mornings — beautiful, but some ridge trails close due to slippery conditions. When that happens we reroute groups to the valley floor circuit and forest walks, which are equally stunning and considerably safer. The night sky mostly stays hidden under monsoon cloud.

What to wear

Layer up. Mornings can sit at 8–14 °C and afternoons climb to 18–24 °C, so a moisture-wicking base, a warm mid-layer and a windproof shell cover the whole day. UV is strong at altitude even through the mist — bring sunscreen. Our packing checklist has the full list, and the trekking guides cover trail-specific gear.
